Constitutive framework for rheologically complex interfaces with an application to elastoviscoplasticity

A framework is presented for the formulation of a class continuum constitutive models sharp interfaces with non-linear viscoelastic behaviour due to considerable isotropic interfacial microstructure. For thermodynamically consistent elastoviscoplastic interface model we adapt an approach successful in describing bulk polymer glasses. The has clear separation between dilatation and shear, used predict phenomena related plasticity observed experimental literature, which relevant many applications. Stress–strain predictions standard rheological flows, i.e. shear dilatation, are investigated numerically. predominantly elastic response obtained at small deformations, transition primarily plastic flow high stress levels. In flow, strain softening eventually plateau occur upon further deformation beyond yield point. (the relative strength of) overshoot shown be controlled by two dimensionless groups parameters model. predicts maximum decreasing without even larger deformations. These studied various choices
